Athena Greek Restaurant: A Taste of the Mediterranean Near Your Apartment
Since 1997 Athena Greek Restaurant, located in the heart of Greektown, has built up a reputation for its lively but not overwhelming atmosphere, gorgeous glass-ceilinged dining room, and neo-classic decor. In 2020, circumstances required Athena to shift gears toward takeout and delivery services, but in recent weeks the restaurant has reconfigured its patio space and resumed outdoor dining on-site. Ivy covered walls and fountains give the courtyard the feeling of a secluded outdoor oasis, and an extended pergola and retractable umbrellas at every table offer shade and shelter from sunshowers if need be.
The menu remains centered on classic Greek dishes (moussaka, pastitsio, spanakopita and braised lamb, among other classic entrees) and is complemented by an impressive list of signature cocktails and Mediterranean wines. If you prefer to stay at home, Athena is continuing its online ordering system for curbside takeout, including family-style special dinners announced via social media. Delivery is available via the Grubhub app.
